Tom White

Tom White is a New Zealand-based artist who investigates artificial intelligence and machine perception. His artwork explores the Algorithmic Gaze: how machines see, know, and articulate our world. As machine perception becomes more pervasive in our daily lives, the world as seen by computers becomes our dominant reality.

Physical abstract prints are created by collaborating with AI systems and the prints themselves are recognized as familiar by neural networks classifiers. It’s art by AI, for AI.

Tom teachеs computational design and creative AI at the Victoria University of Wellington School of Design. In 2018 he participates in Gradient Decent, the first exhibition of AI in New Delhi in Nature Morte Gallery and ARTificial Art & AI in EspacePOP in Montreal.
