The exhibition presents the projects achieved by Gallery +359 in 2018 and 2019 at the Water Tower in Lozenets. The peculiarities of the architecture and history of the building, as well as the need for a more precise organization of the events in the gallery, related to the positioning and in the international field of cultural exchange, determined the structure of the exhibition plan. It is consolidated into seven programs, part of which are Formatting the Absence, Radius, Moving image, Ecosystem, Point of intersection, to pursue a wide range of ideas and strategies in contemporary art . The focus is on different aspects of the roles that the contemporary artist not only as an artist but also as a curator, able to create a context that provokes new perspectives on his own work. The exhibition plan seeks to reflect artistic practices related to multidisciplinary studies of various aspects of the contemporary world in order to create a completely new field of communication.
In the last 2 years were featured 28 contemporary visual artists from Bulgaria, England, Denmark, Turkey, The Netherlands, Germany,New Zealand, France and Norway. They worked individually as well as in teams with people from different cultural fields to create projects for the complex architectural space of the gallery. The expositions focused on a diverse range of problems and ideas – from how the image created by classical interpretation techniques works in contemporary art to the place of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the contemporary visual culture.The work on the projects was documented by photographers Yana Lozeva, Boryana Pandova and cameraman Christian Pandev and their photographs and short videos added a new artistic perspective to the events of the past two years.
During the exhibition, the gallery plans to organize events and special visits in the presence of participants in the exhibitions, which we will publish further.
